Let’s Talk Business…
Today I wanted to pull together an outfit specifically geared towards the career minded businesswoman.
My Reasons:
- To be a source of inspiration for a chic, corporate world look that shows you mean business in the office as well as at meetings with clients, investors, etc.
- To pick fabulous transitional pieces you can easily continue wearing afterwork & into the evening if you have something planned be it personally or professionally based.
Your clothes & personal style should be tools you can use to build up confidence & serve as a reminder of what you have to offer!
P.S. Looking “professional” doesn’t have to equal wearing a basic black suit & collared shirt everyday. Not that there is anything wrong with that (accessories can make all the difference in the world,) but why not mix it up & standout from the crowd a bit?
You can never go wrong with a button down shirt for an office setting. Especially a shirt with pinstripes. I chose this shirt specifically for it’s bell sleeves. It makes it not so ordinary & gives a bit of extra personality to the look. I’m really into a statement sleeve for spring. It instantly elevates the simplest shirt or dress. While I chose to tie the front of my shirt, you could easily tuck it in with a stylish belt while at the office & then tie it up afterwards.
If heels aren’t your thing during the daytime, try some ballet flats or low profile booties. Then after a busy workday, you can simply throw on a pair of beautiful heels & head out for dinner with co-workers, grab drinks, etc…
Outfit Details
Quay Australia: ‘French Kiss 55mm Cat Eye Sunglasses’ in black smoke. These sunglasses scream “Boss Babe” & are only $45 (on sale) so your wallet won’t be shedding a tear. The clear rose gold version of these sunnies is currently on my spring wishlist.
Audrey 3+1: Bell Sleeve Button Down. I bought this striped beauty at a local boutique called Stitch & Feather. I found tons of similar styles for you that I’ve linked below.
This shirt by Madewell, is chic yet budget friendly. My favorite shirt option that I found is this tiered bell sleeve by Wayf. I also love the look of this polka-dot bell sleeve by Treasure & Bond. Not into the bell sleeve thing but love the blue & white stripes? Try this drapey short sleeve option by Madewell or this off the shoulder style by Leith. My plus size pick by Foxcroft looks crisp, has great details & doesn’t need to be ironed. Major Bonus!
Topshop: ‘Joni High Waist Skinny Jeans’. I see people wearing jeans all the time for work, in so many different professional settings. Trust me when I say a good pair of dark jeans with some stretch will never go out of style. The biggest thing to remember when choosing a pair of jeans for work is that they fit your body type.
P.S. I still really want this version of the ‘Joni’ with the released hem.
Topshop: ‘Feather & Crystal Bib Necklace’ (old.) I found a similar Topshop Crystal Bib Necklace that would pair beautifully. I also really love this bright multi-colored option by J.Crew. A wonderful statement piece to add to your spring & summer wardrobe.
Kate Spade: ‘Cobble Hill Small Adrien Satchel.’ This bag is so versatile, the perfect size for a busy working woman & comes in so many fabulous colors & patterns!!! It has a crossbody strap as well as handles. I removed the strap for the shoot but it would be great for a woman on the go. The straw version of this bag is gorgeous & on sale! Another major “want” on my wishlist for this season. The Alice Blue/Black color combo is the perfect spring style choice & I have to mention the classic black version of this bag because it never goes out of style. It’s on sale too! Looking for something a bit different? Try this yellow satchel. It is a gorgeous color choice for an added pop of color. I’ve also linked the larger version of the “Cobble Hill’ here, another beautiful straw & leather option & this fabulous rose gold bonita satchel is a must see!
Steve Madden: ‘CarrsonNV’ in grey with silver heels. I love the soft pink & gold version as well; see my “Styling an Oversized Sweater” post. The pink option is on sale right now. If velvet isn’t your thing, the all suede neutral taupe version is a beautiful everyday option.
Prefer flats? Try pairing these ballet flats, or these & this pair of backless loafers would look really amazing too. What about a lace up option like these?
