Fall Trends 2017: The Shirt Dress

Happy Monday Guys!

Let’s continue with my fall fashion convo & highlighting the chic styles that will be all over this year! So grab your Pumpkin Spice Latte & let’s get to it! In my first fall trends post here, I talked about some transitional pieces that I think are absolute MUST HAVES for autumn. Next up on my list: a shirt dress.

The shirt dress is such a classic staple to add to your closet & it’s having a major moment for this 2017 fall season! When I picked this off the shoulder version up during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ( see the post here,) I was already dreaming up all the ways I was going to incorporate it into my personal wardrobe for the upcoming season. This is such a versatile style dress & I loved the checkered black & white pattern. This dress gave me a bit of an 80s vibe a laWorking Girl/ Risky Business & I knew I wanted to add pops of red & some funky accessories to go with that feeling. Hey, I’m a product of the 80s, what can I say!

Some other ways to style this piece: Throw on some booties with a long black vest & a classic bucket bag or try flats with a sleek belt & delicate jewelry for the office. My Summer Style: Pink & Blue Hues

Hi everyone!!! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! Today I wanted to share my new found fondness for pink. Growing up I was never a “pink” kind of girl, but over the last few years I’ve really grown to love & embrace the color. I’m especially drawn to muted pink hues like blush & vintage rose… I think they’re more unexpected versions of pink. My latest obsession has been pairing these types of pinks with blue. The color combo looks so feminine yet chic.

My Outfit:

This top from Free People was the perfect example of how these two colors complement one another. (Bonus: it’s currently on sale & comes in a variety of color combos.) I found my soft suede slides at Nordstrom Rack & I was living for the pearl embellishments on top. Instant Glam! Slides are a great summer staple shoe because they’re easy to just slip on, comfy & go with almost any outfit. Designers have really started to embrace the slide & are creating more sleek/modern options (which I’m so excited about because you can wear them to more formal events & look fab without wearing sky-high heels!) I’ve linked a lot of similar slides below. I particularly like these suede Summit beauties. They would be the perfect addition to your shoe-drobe. See what I did there!?

Lastly, when I found this peacock clutch, I just knew I had to have it for this outfit. It’s such a beautiful statement piece. It’s fun & whimsical but doesn’t look juvenile. It soooo feels like something Carrie Bradshaw would have in her closet & what girl doesn’t want to feel at least a little like Carrie? Kate Spade always has the best bags & accessories. They’re true conversation starters. Her designs have such a signature look. I think this clutch really finished off the outfit. It’s like the cherry on top!

Fall Trends 2017: Florals, Leather & Lace

I’ve mentioned this before (probably countless times,) but for anyone who is reading my blog for the 1st time let me reiterate, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE FALL! I love everything about it from the weather, to the holidays but more than any other element, I look forward to the fashion. I scour the internet, magazines & stalk my favorite celebrity stylists to see what trends are going to be all over the place. Over the next month or so I’ll be including as many Fall Trend posts as I can because honestly, I think it’s the strongest season for fashion.

Since this is my 1st trend post, I wanted to use pieces that were transitional. Meaning, you can wear an item like this dress throughout the summer & then layer it up to make it autumnal. I really like that this look is hard & soft all at once. The lace & leather fabrics are great contrasts to one another but relate through the floral detailing in both pieces. The hardware on my jacket compliment the embellishments on my black suede studded heels giving the look a bit of edge & the mixed metal earrings from Mr. Kate tie the whole look together.

Do me a favor, over the next week or so take stock of things in your closet that you know you’ll want to continue to wear this fall. Then take clothing like sweaters, belts, pants, jackets, hats, bags, shoes etc…you think you could add to your current pieces to make them more fall appropriate.
